The Memorial Day parade and ceremony were once again a great success. We had well over 100 people at the ceremony and the streets were packed with onlookers. Mike Brennan was our guest speaker and gave a heart wrenching talk on the loss of his son, Josh, in Afghanistan. Thanks to everyone who helped make Memorial Day a success. Election of officers was held on June 1 and I guess you have to put up with me for another year. All the officers wil...Read More

Paul Peters and Jodie Armstrong set up the computer donated by Cress Funeral Home. They report it is more than adequate and will serve us well. Don’t forget we have a website at www.alp534.org. Thanks, Greg, for representing our post. Our March meeting will have a guest speaker. Phil Hands, the awarding winning cartoonist for the Wisconsin State Journal will speak. Many of you have seen Phil’s political cartoons as well as cartoons of the Packers, Ba...Read More

Guess what? Computer broke and I’m handwriting this so it may be a little short. Several of us had the privilege of meeting the wife and son of one of our legion namesakes, Stephen Foye. I got a phone call they were at the legion, so I went there to meet them. I met Geneveive Hansen Foye, Steven’s wife and son, Stephen Foye. Geneveive lives in Galena, Illinois and Stephen lives in Kent, Washington. We had a very good conversation about Steven an...Read More

January 2012

Hi, again. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the help and wonderful turnout for our Thanksgiving Day dinner. The donors of turkeys, food and help once again made our 20th Thanksgiving at the legion a success. We served about 155 people, down from about 180 last year, but I have to blame the Packers for playing such a good game. After the first half, we had few takers and I don’t care because we won and many people had a great meal. Karen and...Read More
