November 2014

I have a hard time believing it is that time of year again so soon. Oh well, we have to live with what we get. I want to thank everyone for their help for fall cleanup on October 11th. We had 14 people here and they did a great job. It’s nice to have that many people and we accomplished almost everything we set out to do. Don’t forget November 11 is Veterans Day and the flags go up at 0600 and come down at 1600. I hope we get a fe...Read More

Welcome to winter again. Eventually, we will get through this. When you wake up on tax day and you have an inch of snow on the ground, there is something wrong with this picture. We had a fairly good turn out for the Legion birthday and we certainly had enough food to feed the village. The S.A.L. Chili cook off was a great success in my eyes. I was going to sample as many as I could of the 18 or 20. I only made it through 4 bowls ...Read More

As you know, we lost Greg Simonis due to a stroke. We had a memorial service for Greg on March 1 at our Legion and what a turnout we had. We had well over 200 people here and it was standing room only. I want to thank everyone from our post, other posts, district, county and state officers who came to celebrate Greg’s life. I am especially thankful to our members from the legion, auxiliary and S.A.L. for all their help with the foo...Read More

If you haven’t heard, Greg Simonis passed away on February 13 due to a stroke on February 11. Greg was the main force behind several of our post programs including Children and Youth, Americanism, the Oratorical, the Scholarship Committee and he took over membership with Skip when John Gular got sick. He would help with anything when called upon. He also ran and was elected Chaplain not only in our post, but for State Chaplain for...Read More

I hope that all went well for the holidays for everyone. This weather can take a holiday any time it wants! Our post hosted the 3rd District party on January 11 and 60 people attended including 10 of our members. We had good food catered by JL Richards and a good time was had by all. The next day, we hosted the Dane County Oratorical Contest. We had three excellent candidates. Our post membership is at 90%. That is good, but we n...Read More

The Holidays will have come and gone by the time you get this newsletter. It is my hope that everyone had a great holiday season. This will be a short newsletter article this month because Christmas is Karen’s favorite holiday of the year and I have several duties to handle (at her REQUEST) before the big day. The membership drive is coming to an end, PLEASE check your membership card. If it is 2014, you’re up to date; if not, yo...Read More

December 2013

November is upon us and it is only going to get worse. Just think, we only have 4 or 5 months to go. I hear the Dane County meeting was a success. I was unable to attend but we had seven members present. Everyone was happy with the food provided by our Auxiliary and the auction with Virgil as our auctioneer went well. Veterans Day was rain and snow and the flags unfortunately did not go up. The high school held their annual Veter...Read More
